Why Do You Need a Visual Strategy Workshop? - Corporate Sign Industries

3 Key Reasons We Recommend Doing a Visual Strategy Workshop

1. Wayfinding

Signage should assist people to orientate themselves on campus and to navigate from place to place. Conducting a visual strategy workshop helps to identify where wayfinding signage would improve the flow of traffic. This applies to both foot traffic within the campus and vehicles entering the site. All people entering the campus need to clearly understand how they must proceed and where they should go.

2. Branding

If a school feels that their current signage doesn’t accurately reflect who they are or how they wish to be portrayed, a visual strategy workshop will facilitate a consolidation of their signage.

It isn’t uncommon for a school’s signage to become a medley of styles, reflecting the trends, tones or expressions of various school leaderships teams. Or, a school might undergo a complete brand refresh. A visual strategy workshop ensures consistent branding and style across all signage on campus.

3. Age of signage

In a similar way to inconsistent branding, old, dated signage can lead to a negative perception of a school. If signage is faded, damaged or obsolete, a visual strategy workshop can help to rejuvenate and modernise a school campus.

Before we attend a visual strategy workshop, we ask our client a series of questions aimed at understanding what they hope to achieve and where they recognise any challenges.

  • We gather insights into the vision, goals, and culture of a school, and then develop signage to align with that, and we believe that is one of the business characteristics that sets us apart.

  • When we come onto your site, we view the layout with fresh eyes and can highlight areas or issues that might be missed by regular users.

  • We enjoy visiting schools across the country and have seen signage that has been done well and where there is room for improvement. This puts us in a position to make recommendations based on our experience.

  • After we’ve completed the audit, a school can then submit that for tender, ensuring the quotes they receive are comparable.

  • Once a school has an audit report, they won’t necessarily go ahead with the entire project. They can use the report as a priority list and choose to implement some portions immediately whilst sorting other portions into future budgets.

A visual strategy workshop is not simply a report that we deliver then walk away; we view it as a conversation and welcome feedback. We will make revisions to ensure we meet all our client’s expectations.
