Overview

Marsden Park Anglican College is an independent Anglican school in Sydney's north-west, serving a rapidly growing community in one of the city's most active development corridors. The College began as the Marsden Park campus of Richard Johnson Anglican School before establishing itself as an independent institution, bringing with it the need to build a distinct identity from the ground up. Significant campus expansion is planned for the years ahead.

Challenge

Becoming a standalone school meant more than a name change. The College needed to establish a visual identity that clearly set it apart from its former parent school, expressed consistently across an existing campus that hadn't been built with that identity in mind. Founding Principal Darren Cox approached CSI with a clear constraint: the campus needed to be transitioned in time for the start of the new school year. The broader challenge, though, was developing a visual direction that could grow with the College rather than one that would need to be rethought every time a new building went up.

Solution

CSI began with a Visual Strategy Workshop to understand Marsden Park Anglican College's new identity, campus environment and future aspirations, creating a long-term framework for signage and environmental branding that could evolve over time rather than simply replacing existing signs like-for-like. CSI then designed and delivered the first stage of the programme, including illuminated identity signage, value totems, reception and gate signage, establishing the College's new identity across the campus in time for the school year. As the College continues to expand, the original visual strategy remains the foundation for future signage.
